This Month’s Focus: Preventive Care
Seeking routine care can reduce the risk for diseases and disabilities. For a list of preventive services by age and gender, check out HealthCare.gov.
By the Numbers
More than 50 million deaths can be prevented through immunizations between now and 2030.
In general, healthy people should get a physical every 2 to 3 years in their 20s, every other year in their 30s and 40s, and yearly starting around age 50.

Detail
Preventive health care can help you stay healthier and prevent many illnesses, diseases, and other health problems. There are many benefits to scheduling an annual physical and other preventive care services such as:
- Your lifespan can drastically increase because preventive services can help identify things early and treat them much easier.
- Identifying and treating conditions early on means you can avoid high medical expenses.
Don’t know where to begin? Start off with your annual physical or wellness exam. Regardless of one’s age, gender, and health history, an annual physical will check all areas of your health such as physical and emotional. Most preventive care services are covered at 100% by most health plans.
