AUTO INSURANCE PREMIUM REFUNDS INFORMATION

We know that many of you are helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 by staying home; which means you are driving fewer miles, resulting in fewer car accidents.

Many auto insurers have launched programs offering relief during this crisis, including premium refunds for the months of April and May. Please see a list below of insurers who have recently announced relief programs. You can find additional information by clicking on their name below.

  • Subject to regulatory review and approval where needed, AIG Private Client Group automobile policyholders across the U.S. can expect a 25% credit back from their auto premium accrued during the three-month period of March – May 2020.
  • The same credit will apply to active Premier Client Solutions auto policyholders.
  • This adjustment applies to all regular-use autos but excludes collector cars and miscellaneous vehicles as defined in the policy.
  • Savings will be returned via an account credit upon each policy’s renewal, applying to the next policy term (beginning with August renewals). In some states, the premium credit may be applied sooner if required.

The GEICO Giveback Credit

GEICO is providing a 15 percent credit to our auto and motorcycle policyholders as your policy comes up for renewal between April 8 and October 7, 2020. The credit will also apply to any new policies purchased during this period. The credit is part of our ongoing efforts to assist policyholders during this unprecedented time.

The average auto policy has a semi-annual premium of about $1,000 and generally covers more than one vehicle. This means we expect credits to average about $150 per auto policy and $30 per motorcycle policy. We estimate the benefit to our 18 million auto and one million motorcycle policyholders to be approximately $2.5 billion.

Current policyholders can expect to see the credit when your policy renews. You do not need to take any action to receive this credit.

Subject to regulatory approval in each respective state, we will provide a 15% credit on all regular auto premiums for the period of time from the introduction of state stay-at-home orders until they are lifted. As the stay safer-at-home orders are lifted, these credits will be paid in cash or applied to reduce any outstanding balance due to PURE.
